ABOUT ME
Behind the Words

Hi! My name is Meena Morar, and I am an incoming first year at the UC Davis School of Law and recent alum of Georgetown University. I am interested in pursuing criminal defense or public interest law, and I believe the best way to understand how to improve the criminal justice system is through the lived experience of others. I am also interested in the impact analyzing and utilizing the law can hold in destabilizing institutions of power in order to promote social change.
In my time at Georgetown, I worked on issues surrounding housing inaccessibility, prisoners’ rights, and labor justice through the lens of investigative journalism and advocacy. However, I decided to pivot to law school due to an overwhelming feeling that something was missing.
I am proud of the stories I have written and the relationships I have built thus far, but an unsettling reality looms in the fact that journalism alone cannot directly impact the lives of the people the stories are centered around. I hope that through the lens of the law, I will be able to work more closely with impacted communities on a one-on-one basis.
